Biography and cause of death of Jack Kibbie
American politician John Patrick “Jack” Kibbie was president of the Iowa Senate and a state senator representing Iowa’s 4th district (July 14, 1929 – March 4, 2025). Serving as both a senator and the head of the Iowa Senate, he is a Democrat who has been there since 1988.
Kibbie was a member of many committees during his time in the Iowa Senate. These included the Agriculture, Veterans Affairs, Rules and Administration, State Government, and Ethics committees, of which he was chair and vice chair. Prior to his current position, he served as a senator for Iowa from 1964 to 1968, a congressman for Iowa from 1960 to 1964, and a member of the National Convention Platform Committee in 1968, among other political accomplishments.
As a 2020 Iowa caucus participant, Jack Kibbie was interviewed by CNN and expressed his endorsement of Joe Biden, the former vice president.
With 18,059 votes, Jack Kibbie defeated Ken Vaske of Grassroots for Life in his last re-election in 2008.
